Preacher Quits Sports!

By Author Unknown - edited

1.    Every time I went to a game, they asked me for money!

2.    The people who I had to sit by didn’t seem very friendly.

3.    The seats were too hard and not at all comfortable.

4.    At many of the games, the coach never came over to welcome me and shake my hand.

5.    The referee made a decision I could not agree with,

6.    I suspected that I was sitting with some hypocrites-they came only to see their friends and what others were wearing rather than to see the game.

7.    Some games went into overtime, and I was late getting home.

8.    The band sometimes plays numbers that I had never heard before.

9.    It seems that the games are scheduled when I wanted to do other things.

10.  I was taken to too many games by my parents when I was growing up.

11.  Some of the games were just to far away to attend.

12.  The weather was too bad at many of the games.

13.  Sometimes company would come over just before it was time to leave for the game.

14.  When I would visit a new area, I didn’t know where the stadium was located.

15.  If one of the members of my family became sick, I need to stay home too.

Editor’s Note: When we think about it, these excuses are very familiar, aren’t they? Have you heard brethren use similar excuses for not regularly attending the worship services? Brethren, “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Cor. 13:5). We hope to see you at our gospel meeting? - tgmc
